| Description | | The Reading Rally is an exciting reading competition
designed for students in grades 3 through 8. It fosters a
love for literature and teamwork as participants engage in a
challenging battle of book knowledge. Below are the details
and directions for the competition.
Divisions:
3rd - 4th Grade Division
5th - 6th Grade Division
7th - 8th Grade Division
Team Formation:
Each school forms teams of four students. Teams can be of
mixed grade levels but they will compete at the highest
grade level of the team members.
Schools may have up to two additional members on a team,
but substitutions must be made between rounds.
Schools can enter as many teams as the ESU (Educational
Service Unit) can accommodate.
Competition Format:
The competition consists of five rounds.
Each round has ten questions.
Questions are displayed on large projectors throughout the
room.
Each team uses one computer and must have only the
Google Form answer key open.
The correct answer is always the title of a book from the
provided reading list.
Each question provides multiple-choice options, listing all
possible book titles.
Teams have one minute to submit their answer.
Teams may ask the proctor to repeat a question at the end
of each round.
Once an answer is submitted, it cannot be changed.
Scoring:
Scores are calculated after each round.
The competition is not timed based on speed, meaning the
first team to answer does not receive extra points.
The Reading Rally provides an opportunity for students to
showcase their comprehension skills, work collaboratively,
and enjoy friendly competition while celebrating their love
for reading! |
