Description | | Wondering how to help your middle and high school students who struggle with reading—without completely overhauling your lessons? This workshop will equip you with practical, research-based strategies to boost reading comprehension and engagement for all learners. The strategies are based upon both the sciences of reading and learning.
We’ll explore the eight key recommendations from the Institute of Education Sciences' Educator’s Practice Guide on Providing Reading Interventions for Students in Grades 4–9—and, more importantly, how to apply them effectively in your classroom.
Expect a hands-on session where you’ll not only learn the strategies but also collaborate, plan, and walk away with ready-to-use lesson ideas that support struggling readers while keeping the whole class moving forward.
Join us to build your toolkit and make reading success a reality for every student!
We will have a kick-off session via zoom on June 17 from 8:30-11:30 am. The rest of the course work will be completed via an on-line Canvas course. The course will close July 31, 2025.
