Description: Engaging English learners
(ELs) in any instructional setting requires alignment of classroom level,
school level and district level practices. This coherence becomes even more
critical when schools need to pivot between a variety of possible scenarios of
school operation. In preparation for fall opening of schools, during this
90-minute webinar, panelists will review the equal access legislative context
for EL education; present a theory of action (TOA) that reflects both the legislative
context and foundations for EL education; present a sample of evidence-based
instructional practices for ELs that support rigorous teaching and learning;
and address systemic actions and leadership strategies that participants may
use to support educators within their contexts.
Join presenters from Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA), Department
of Justice (DOJ), and Regional Education Laboratories (REL) West on July 23,
2020 at 3:00 pm ET for a discussion on administering EL programs and instruction
in the upcoming 2020–21 school year.
A certificate of completion will be available to registered attendees who
participate in at least 90% of the webinar time.
