DescriptionDescription:
Teachers today are called upon to do much more than just teach their area of expertise, whether its math or English, art or football. Teachers often play a critical role in the lives of children beyond the classroom. They can be an outlet, a source of support and help when kids really need it. This is especially true for children and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges. This day long training will focus on helping teachers identify symptoms of mental health challenges in youth and better understand how these challenges affect one’s overall health and well-being. Educators will also learn about strategies to implement within the classroom setting to promote mental wellness and address challenging behavior. With the increase in teaching responsibility teachers often forget to focus on their own wellbeing, this training will address the importance of self-care as well as provide a forum in which all attendees can participate and plan their self-care plan for the upcoming school year.
