Description | | The Nebraska Department of
Education (NDE) is working to ensure that Nebraska students and educators have
access to high-quality instructional materials and comprehensive professional
learning aligned to these materials. As part of this equity commitment,
NDE is seeking to enhance Nebraska educators’ knowledge of the instructional
shifts demanded by college- and career-ready standards and continuing to equip
educators with the critical understandings needed to bring instructional
change to schools.
With that in mind, I am
excited to invite you to a professional learning experience designed to connect
college and career ready standards, instruction, and assessment: “Strengthening
the Core: Leading Instructional Change.” The overall goal of the
experience is to deepen educator knowledge of the instructional shifts in ELA,
mathematics, and science, and identify the implications these shifts have on
classroom instruction, instructional materials selection, and professional learning
to improve outcomes for all students. Additional information is below:
What will I gain from
participating?
· An understanding of the NDE’s vision to support teaching and
learning.
· Deeper knowledge and skills that support foundational college and
career-ready instruction for ELA, mathematics, and science.
· Tools and resources to assess the current state of college and
career ready standards, instruction, and assessment in your district.
· An opportunity to build a coherent plan that connects classroom
instruction, instructional materials, and professional learning.
Who should participate?
District and/or School
Curriculum Leaders & Supervisors, Instructional Coaches, ESU Staff

curriculum, or are responsible for making decisions about teaching and
learning).
