AM Session #15: Growing a Whole Child Systems of Supports in Your Community

Description:
In this session we build the capacity of your district or community team to create safe, positive, equitable, and welcoming environments for youth and adults alike. We will facilitate the development of community pillars or beliefs that will be taught and reinforced in all locations in your community, including all areas of schools. Attendees will also learn how to implement social emotional practices successfully in schools, neighborhoods, and homes using implementation science. Attendees will also learn how to create and sustain positive relationships with youth, regardless of the challenging behaviors they may show. Trauma-informed practices and school-based mental health approaches will be shared as well. “I believe every student should and can graduate from our schools well prepared for higher education and life. Unfortunately, many of the brick walls our children face are human made. Schools and community leaders must relentlessly work to dissolve these barriers and build cohesive systems that promote excellence for all. Then an only then, will we fulfill our pledge to provide every child the opportunity to pursue a successful life.”
