DescriptionDescription:
This college course is part of the series leading to an endorsement in English as a Second Language from Wayne State College.   The course description states: "This is a course aimed at developing a thorough understanding of communication and culture, in both global and community settings, and the way members of diverse cultures and subcultures utilize unique systems, symbols and media representation to communicate
among themselves and other groups. Emphasis on media representation of minority groups and U.S. sponsored health/public welfare campaigns in developing nations will enable students to critically assess the communication process in a cultural context."

The class will be taught in an on-line format by WSC instructor, Deborah Whitt.

Textbook:
Information will be sent to participants as soon as it is available.
 
Dates:
The on-line course will run from June 30-August 7, 2014.

While class size is limited, a few spaces may still remain.  Contact SOAR by telephone at 308-635-0661 or  email soar@esu13.org  to get information to connect to  our WSC contact.  The pre-registration occurs on February 24th, so please plan to have notifications to SOAR before then.  If you are new to Wayne State College, you also need to apply to WSC before the pre-registration date. The application process can be found at  https://myapplication.wsc.edu/    

The cost of the Wayne State course is $825.00 payable to WSC.
