LB 1081:  The Nebraska Reading Improvement Act-K-3 Literacy
The Nebraska Reading Improvement Act, which goes into effect for the 2019-2020 school year, takes a comprehensive approach to improve the reading skills of students in kindergarten through third grade. ESU #13 staff will review the key components of the Nebraska Reading Improvement Act. 
Objectives for the day:

Overview and requirements of LB 1081
Share NDE Assessment Document and learn what assessments have been approved by NDE
Early Identification
Work collaboratively as an ESU to develop sample parent letters.
Provide sample Individual Reading Improvement Plans
Create Regional Letters and plans
Gather resources for Summer Reading Programs
Gather resources for parent communication

Audience:  K-3 Principals, Curriculum Specialists, Instructional Coaches, Title 1 teachers, Reading teachers, Special Education Directors, Special Education teachers.
