Description | | Description: Providing meaningful and high-quality instruction for students with significant disabilities in a general education classroom can be challenging. This workshop series will help educators and teams become more familiar with the extended indicators and related resources which serve as a roadmap for those who participate in the NSCAS Alternative Assessment. We will also explore ways to embed instruction into meaningful activities across the student's day and tools which may help you determine which skills to teach.
Part 1 Session Objectives:
Understand criteria for student qualification for alternative assessment
Explore the extended indicators (where to find them, how to read them)
Explore resources from the NDE concerning extended indicators
Reflect on how these tools can be used to support learners in your program
Part 2 Session Objectives:
Learn methods to align grade-level instruction and standards with activities tailored for students with complex learning needs
Teaching procedures
Adapting materials and curriculum
Balancing academic and other needs
Revisit alternative assessment decisions
Participants are required to attend both sessions. |
