DescriptionEvent Description: Leadership Matters. One of the most important school improvement opportunities for schools and school districts is to more fully develop the leadership skills of school principals. In Nebraska and other rural states, the administrative structure of many schools includes a single principal, with no access to the services and support of assistant principals. These administrators often face a workload that includes responsibility for all of the academic and behavioral performance of staff and students in addition to other duties typically assigned to specialists in larger school districts. In this context, principals face a dual bind of the need for professional growth, but also tremendous pressure to be in the school building to manage the complex operations of the school

The Principal’s Designee Workshop is intended to empower willing members of the school staff to assume temporary responsibilities in managing the school so that principals might be able to attend to their own professional development or personal circumstances that might arise, such as the need for preventative medical care or attendance at important family events. Participants will receive a full day of training, legal content from two NE law firms, a binder with materials and templates and one copy per team of The Principal's Hot Seat: Observing Real-World Dilemmas by Dr. Nick Pace.

Please plan to attend as a Principal/Designee team if possible.
Our data shows the training is more effective when you are able to collaborate in the conversations and scenarios to build leadership consensus.
