HIT ME ONE MORE TIME: AN UPDATED REVIEW OF NEBRASKA STUDENT DISCIPLINE ACT
When schools are facing heightened suspicion and mistrust from families, nothing is worse than that sinking feeling you get when you know you have to suspend or expel a student but you aren't entirely sure your processes are up to date. Worse, is the feeling of terror when a family hires an attorney to scrutinize student discipline decisions. The attorneys from KSB will review the updated requirements of the Nebraska Student Discipline Act; address discipline in unique areas such as extracurriculars, Section 504, and the special education world; and provide samples of the various student discipline forms and processes for you to use in your district.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS AND BEST PRACTICES FOR NEBRASKA SCHOOL SAFETY PROTOCOLS
More and more frequently, school administrators are the first responders to crises and emergencies they never expected to be facing when they chose to become educators. The attorneys from KSB will review the latest safety and security guidance from the Nebraska Department of Education with a focus on the difference between what is legally required and what is preferred best practice. This webinar will take attendees chronologically through the stages of emergency preparedness, response, and resolution with a focus on the overlapping obligations of the IDEA, Section 504, and FERPA.

ALL THINGS ENROLLMENT!
Conflict over student enrollment can not only cause a school district legal headaches, but it can result in high profile political turmoil as well. In this webinar, the KSB attorneys will address every aspect of student enrollment, including: (a) who is a "resident" - foster students, children of parents who live in multiple districts, minors not residing with parents, etc; (b) an update on the statutory requirements of option enrollment as well as recent decisions on option appeals; (c) the state
and federal requirements surrounding enrollment of homeless students: and (d) why the May 1 NSAA list is so important.

GROUNDHOG DAY: UNPACKING THE CURRENT AND NEW TITLE IX REGULATIONS
If it feels like we are ALWAYS talking about a new set of Title IX regulations, you are paying just the right amount of attention. In July of 2022 the Biden Administration's Department of Education published a NEW set of new Title IX regulations. In addition to the flashy issues surrounding LGBQTI+ students and that have garnered media attention, these new regulations propose significant changes to the definition of sex harassment and the process that schools must follow to investigate allegations of sex harassment. Every member of a school district's Title IX team should plan on attending this session.
