Description: This 2 day summer training will be for teachers
who support youth in an inclusive setting. Credit will be available through UW.
We will explore what parallel curriculum is, how to create it, and when to use
it. Teachers will bring K-12th Science or Social Studies
textbooks and create parallel curriculum and assessments that they can use to
support students who struggle to read textbooks or access the materials at the
level they are presented. This allows students to remain in the general education
setting and access the grade level vocabulary all students are exposed to. Our
goal is to have a ready to use unit at the end of this training.
