DescriptionCircle of Friends Introductory Training
The contents of this training were developed under a grant from the Nebraska Department of Education, IDEA Parts B and C from the U.S. Department of Education. However this content does not necessarily represent the policy of the U.S. Department of Education, and you should not assume endorsement by the Federal Government.

Who should attend: The Circle of Friends Introductory Training is for facilitators in any new Circle of Friends program AND for new facilitators in existing Circle of Friends programs. Any facilitator who will leading a Circle of Friends group on his/her own MUST attend the Introductory Training to receive grant money from Autism Action Partnership.

What will you learn: How to structure and implement a Circle of Friends group. There will be time for creative sharing and program planning. You will also learn about documentation requirements to maintain your grant. You will leave this training with a plan in place to implement CoF in your setting.

Presenter: Mary Schlieder is a high school special educator, adjunct professor, and educational consultant. Her professional interests include fostering positive inclusion experiences, peermediated intervention, collaborative problem solving, and active learning. She is the author of With Open Arms: Creating School Communities of Support for Kids with Social Challenges, and the 2008 Nebraska Teacher of the Year.
