SUMMARY:F1 Motivating and Inspiring Students
DESCRIPTION:Ever wonder what’s going on in your students’ brains? This in
teractive training dives into a simple but powerful idea: we all have fou
 r key systems running in our minds—knowledge\, cognitive\, metacognitive\
\, and self. While schools have done a good job focusing on the first  two
\, the metacognitive and self-systems often get left behind. Let’s change
that! Discover how you\, as a teacher\, can tap into these overlooked sy
stems to truly connect with and inspire every learner in\nyour classroom.
You’ll learn how these four systems shape both students and teachers in
real time. We’ll take a deep dive into the goals of the metacognitive and
self-systems\, and explore how addressing these can help you reach your
students on a deeper level—connecting with their hearts\, minds\, and han
ds. By the end\, you'll walk away with strategies to build a school cultu
re\nthat sparks excitement and unlocks potential in your students. Plus\,
you’ll reflect on your own teaching\, thinking about how your approach b
rings out passion and purpose in the kids you work with\nevery day.

SUMMARY:F2 Psychological First Aid for Schools
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Nicole Berosek & Jamie Sato\, PhD\n\nLocation:
TBD\n\nThe Psychological First Aid for Schools (PFA-S) program trains sch
ool staff and equips them with effective crisis response strategies. The
program’s main objective is to ensure the safety and well-being of studen
ts\, staff\, and families by being prepared and responding quickly during
crises. PFA-S focuses on eight core actions: initiating contact\, ensuri
 ng safety\, stabilizing emotions\, gathering information\, establishing s
upport networks\, teaching coping skills\, and facilitating collaborative
services. The aim is to create a safe and supportive learning environmen
t for everyone involved\, and the PFA-S team responds to any hazards\, th
reats\, or incidents in the district. We train all staff members in every
school district building using the Nebraska School Safety model\, which
offers a common language and evidence-informed interventions to assist st
udents\, staff\, and families. Our program builds resiliency and helps st
udents and staff recover and utilize adaptive coping strategies.

SUMMARY:The Write Tools
DESCRIPTION:"I don’t know how to teach writing effectively.”\n“There’s ne
ver enough time to work on writing every day.”\n“What do I do with studen
ts who can’t write?”\n“How do we help students be more successful on the
new NSCAS writing items?”\n\nSound familiar? The Write Tools Workshop add
resses these challenges—and many more. Join this workshop for a fun\, int
eractive experience that removes the guesswork from writing instruction.
You’ll learn an explicit\, systematic approach to teaching writing that c
an be immediately implemented in your classroom that works for all learne
rs\, at all levels\, in all subjects. \nPacked with practical strategies
and hands-on learning\, these two days fly by as you collaborate and lear
n alongside fellow educators. You’ll leave saying\, “This is easy! This i
s fun! Why didn’t someone tell me this sooner?” \n\nWriting Strategies th
at Drive Measurable Results\nTime allocated for literacy instruction must
include intentional writing instruction. In this interactive session\, e
ducators will move beyond simply assigning writing and learn how to purpo
sefully teach the skills students need to become effective\, confident wr
iters. Using scaffolded\, standards-aligned approaches\, teachers will di
scover practical strategies that build student success and increase teach
er confidence.\n\nParticipants will explore easy-to-implement techniques
that can be adapted across all grade levels\, all content areas\, and all
literacy programs—which lead to measurable growth. Whether students are
struggling or thriving\, you’ll leave with tools that support every learn
er’s development as a writer.\nThe first day lays the foundation for crea
ting a common language around writing\, and includes sentence building st
rategies\, as well as tools that will help students be successful with ea
ch step of the writing process\, from planning to revising. From kinderga
rten to high school\, this writing routine creates confident\, independen
t writers.\nThe second day adds the close reading strategies\; including
responding to text\, highlighting informational text\, summarizing\, note
-taking and more. These tools help students understand text structure\, l
earning that the way we write is the way we read\, and the way we read is
the way we write. These strategies are for everyone from your non-reader
s to your advanced readers.\nBy the end of the two days\, you’ll be sayin
g\, “I can do this! This makes sense! Why didn’t someone show me this a l
ong time ago?!”\n\nCollege credit is pending approval

DESCRIPTION:Putting Thinking First: Navigating the AI Shift in the Classr
oom\nThe era of Artificial Intelligence is here\, and it’s changing the "
how" of education faster than ever. But while the tools are new\, our pri

ul thinking partner that enhances the learning process.\nWhat You’ll Acco
 mplish:\nDemystify the Tech: Gain a clear\, jargon-free understanding of
how generative AI actually works.\nTeach with Intention: Master core prin
ciples for integrating AI into your curriculum purposefully rather than r
eactively.\nElevate Instruction: Identify specific "instructional moves"
that use AI to spark inquiry and sharpen student logic.\nFoster Ethics: B
